Coconuts, mangoes, bananas, papayas you can pick from the trees  (of course depending on the season). There is even a rice paddy field. The estate vegetable garden produces tomatoes, corn, peanuts, onions, cucumbers, lettuce, beans, and more.  You will also discover a citrus garden, with lemons, sour oranges and, of course, a herb garden. These fresh organic products are used for the villas' daily meals, as much as possible.

Centred on the estate grounds is a mango-shaped swimming pool (20m x 10m), also suitable for children, bordered by a large, comfortable sundeck. You can lounge in pleasant wooden deck chairs, under parasols, or enjoy a traditional Balinese bale (a shady resting place). And if you like, the pool is also suitable for diving classes. At your request, we can arrange an instructor and equipment.

In the garden you can even find an ancient holy well, which seems to give you an amazing positive energy. Together with a beautiful old tree, the lake, and the imposing temple, this is the ideal place for your tranquility and meditation.

On the estate you will find Villa Kembang Kertas (3 bedrooms), the Guest House (1 bedroom) and  the Sunset House (2 bedrooms). 

VILLA KEMBANG KERTAS

This amazing villa has two floors and a basement. Each floor has an area of some 350 metres, including an astounding 150 square meter terrace with a breathtaking view of the Bali Sea to the north, the volcanoes of Java to the west, and Singaraja the former island capital (under Dutch rule) to the east. From upstairs you can see the morning sunrise over the mountains from the east and the evenings'  most beautiful sunsets reflected in the Bali Sea. At night you fall gently asleep to the sound of dozens of nocturnal animals and insects. In thes morning you will wake up to the sound of village roosters and many beautiful tropical birds.

Villa Kembang Kertas can accommodate at least 6 people, but, if you prefer, we can install a few extra beds for children. There are three spacious bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms - two with a bath and shower. All bedrooms have air conditioning, mini-fridge, safety box, an audio system and very comfortable king-size beds.

The house exudes a warm atmosphere and from the living area onwards, you will soon feel very much at home. There is a large library stocked with many books, music and DVDs (especially for children), a professional kitchen where all your culinary needs can be met and a lovely terrace with sea views and a beautiful pool. The terrace is usually the place where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served, but the staff is happy to help if you occasionally select a different spot - perhaps on the pool deck or in the privacy of your bedroom. The Dutch owners are art collectors and this gives a special cachet to the villa.

THE GUEST HOUSE

A house that fits like a jacket, more than enough to live in but also intimate enough to feel cosy and comfortable. Surrounded by a spacious garden with stunning views of the environs, this romantic place has its own special aura and privacy for 2 people. If desired, we can install another bed for you. It has a large living/bedroom with a king-size bed, a spacious bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a spacious kitchen/pantry and a very nice terrace. Here too, air conditioning, refrigerator, audio and safety box are all provided.

THE SUNSET HOUSE

You can only rent this somewhat simpler villa when your group consists of more than 8 people. The Sunset House has an astonishing view to Lovina and the ocean, has two bedrooms and can accommodate 3 guests. The villa has a separate kitchen, bathroom, and offers total privacy.

THE STAFF

The Kembang Kertas staff normally  consists of 7 dedicated people. Most of them have been in service for many years and find it a great pleasure to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Five stars quality, but in a very Balinese way. If your needs require it, staff numbers can be temporarily extended with part-timers - for example, we can easily find extra, reliable staff to care for your little ones.

KEMBANG KERTAS ACTIVITIES

Of course the serenity, meditation at the sacred spring, relaxation by the pool (perhaps with a good book), even a contemplative walk through the garden, may be enough to help you fully relax. However, if you want more activities during your stay, we can help. At your request we can arrange on-site drawing, painting or wood carving workshops, a cooking class, a Balinese dance or even a gamelan orchestra. Why not enjoy, at your convenience, an invigorating massage, also on-site. Kembang Kertas is also a perfect base for day trips to places such as Ubud, Kuta, Sanur, Tanah Lot, Jimbaran. And if you have other ideas please let us know because, in Bali, almost anything is possible.

• *Normally, the Guest House can only be rented in combination with the Main Villa but, occasionally in Low Season, it can be rented alone.
• **The  Sunset House can only be rented in combination with the Main Villa and the Guest House.
• There will never be other guests on the estate apart from you and your group.
• Minimum stay 4 nights; 7 nights Christmas/New Year.
• Nightly rate = 1/7 of weekly rate.
